English: 090716-N-8732C-086 WASHINGTON - (July 16, 2009) - All eyes are on Naval Support Activity Washington assistant public works officer Lt. Reuben Chonna, left, at U.S. Coast Guard headquarters after Adm. Guillermo Enrique Barrera Hurtado, commander of the Colombian Naval Forces, second from the right, told Chonna and Coast Guard Vice Commandant Vice Adm. Vivien Crea, right, he was proud that Chonna, a Colombian born man, was serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Crea, the first woman in any of the U.S. Armed Forces to serve as a deputy service chief, previously served as the commander of the Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic, a joint Navy-Coast Guard initiative, and graciously enabled the two male naval officers with Colombian roots to meet in her office. Barrera Hurtado expressed his thanks to Crea for the cooperation provided to the Colombian navy. Barrera Hurtado earned a Master?s degree at the U.S. Navy?s Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. and was presented with the Legion of Merit (Degree of Commander) medal by Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead at a special ceremony held yesterday at the Naval Support Activity Washington-Washington Navy Yard, which Chonna helps oversee. (U.S. Navy photo by Joseph P Cirone/Released)
